OAKVILLE, Ont. (May 7) — The Sheridan College Athletics and Recreation Department is proud to announce that they will host the 2013 OCAA Women’s Soccer Championship, October, 25-26, 2013, as their host proposal was accepted by the OCAA membership during the Annual General Meeting in London last week. “Clearly this is an exciting opportunity for our institution,” athletic director Jim Flack said. “We have one of the finest on-campus soccer facilities in the country and we are thrilled to share that with the greater OCAA community for this championship event. BRAMPTON, Ont. (April 11) — For the first time in several decades, there were eight teams represented at the 44th annual Sheridan Bruins Athletic Banquet as the men’s and women’s rugby teams joined their siblings from the basketball, soccer and volleyball teams. “This is always a very special evening,” athletic director Jim Flack said. “The way we started this night off, seeing just a huge group of student-athletes walk up to the stage as OCAA All-Academic winners, was tremendous. All of them have competed so hard on their respective fields and courts, and I take great joy in seeing that … Read more…
VAUGHAN, Ont. (March 6) — In the midst of one of their most successful indoor seasons in recent memory — having won two invitational tournaments in their tune-up to the OCAA regional championship — the Sheridan Bruins women’s soccer team posted a 2-0-1 record to win Pool C and advance to the OCAA Championship tournament. “We didn’t start off very well this morning and in the early afternoon I believe it was at times worse,” head coach Paul Angelini said. “So we had to wait until the third game to finally play Sheridan soccer, but I think it’s clear what … Read more…
OAKVILLE, Ont. (October 20) — The very nature of North American sports dictates that you must be able to prove yourself twice: once in the regular season and again in the often do-or-die playoffs. So while the Sheridan Bruins women’s soccer team (7-2 OCAA) had one of their greatest regular seasons in team history, a flat performance in their quarter-final against Centennial wiped out that record, putting them on the wrong side of a 1-0 scoreboard and on the outside looking in when the championship is decided. “We waited until the last 25 minutes of the game to play the … Read more…
OAKVILLE, Ont. (October 19) — They may have had one of our their most successful regular seasons in school history, but the Sheridan Bruins women’s soccer team (7-1 OCAA) understands that their regular season record is nothing but history and if they wish to have a future in 2012, they must perform in the present when they host Centennial (October 20, 1pm) in the OCAA quarter-finals. “Records don’t mean anything at this point, all the teams that are left are the stronger teams,” head coach Paul Angelini said. “It’s a concern that all of their wins — including the playoff … Read more…
