Sarah Cuoto, Michael Selkridge named Athletes of the Year

banquet-winners

BRAMPTON, Ont. (April 11) — For the first time in several decades, there were eight teams represented at the 44th annual Sheridan Bruins Athletic Banquet as the men’s and women’s rugby teams joined their siblings from the basketball, soccer and volleyball teams. “This is always a very special evening,” athletic director Jim Flack said. “The way we started this night off, seeing just a huge group of student-athletes walk up to the stage as OCAA All-Academic winners, was tremendous. All of them have competed so hard on their respective fields and courts, and I take great joy in seeing that … Read more…

Qualifier loss to Georgian ends season for Lady Bruins

BARRIE, Ont. (February 16) — The world of sports can often be the ultimate risk-reward situation. For those that can attain a championship, the prize is certainly worth the amount of work it took to get there. But there can only be one champion at the end, so despite putting in months of hard work, the season of the Sheridan Bruins women’s volleyball team (15-22-2, 9-10 OCAA), was cut short as they dropped their OCAA Championship qualifier to Georgian, 3-1. “I’m really proud of the way we never gave up,” head coach Patrick Krychowski said. “Things really went south on … Read more…

Lady Bruins drop season finale to Redeemer, will travel for playoff date

OAKVILLE, Ont. (February 13) — The Sheridan Bruins women’s volleyball team (15-21-2, 9-9 OCAA) began their OCAA regular season finale like a team desperately wanting to host a playoff game. They were unable to maintain that momentum though and was closed out in three sets by a Redeemer squad fighting for their post-season lives. “We got off to a great 5-0 run in the first set, but as soon as they came back and challenged us we just didn’t compete again,” head coach Patrick Krychowski said. “Once we got behind, we would get a few points and then miss a … Read more…

Weekend split leaves Lady Bruins with control of playoff location

WINDSOR, Ont. (February 10) — With a split of their final two road games of the conference season — a 3-0 loss to Fanshawe, followed by a 3-0 win over St. Clair — the Sheridan Bruins women’s volleyball team (15-20-2, 9-8 OCAA) already know they have a spot secured in the post-season. Their weekend results only leave questions about where their crossover playoff game will take place and while there are many scenarios — depending on other results and the status of tie-breakers — the only certainty is that a win against Redeemer in their regular season finale secures fourth … Read more…
